The new plant is part of the City of Montreal's drive to recycle its organic waste. The transformation of collected plant and food waste will produce biogas and biomethane, a renewable energy source.

The challenges are numerous: restricted terrain and urban context, complex process involving heavy machinery, odor management and worker safety, etc. The site layout and architecture of the plant are particularly meticulous, combining functionality and architectural quality.
