The new wildlife officer training center combines and replaces two existing buildings: a day school (housing pavilion) and a training center. As a result, future officers benefit from a single space completely dedicated to their ongoing training.e.
The building is located in the heart of the Duchesnay tourist resort, a magnificent natural setting west of Quebec City. To successfully integrate a contemporary building into this natural, wooded site, the simple volumes embrace the site's topography and echo the resort's built heritage.
Both the site and its use called for nature to take pride of place, in a responsible and warm construction. Materials are as local and natural as possible - using stone, aluminum and wood. The development of a central courtyard maximizes sunlight and views of the outdoors throughout the building, creating an interior close to nature, of which the spectacular lounge is a proud representative.
