Located at the junction of Montreal's central business district and entertainment district, the Sommer building is an integral part of the city's real estate heritage. Built as an office building in 1912, it had to undergo major modifications to accommodate a new tenant.
The first steps in this major project were to establish the real estate strategy, while negotiating with the future tenant and the municipality. In the end, the 10-storey building expands to the west, offering new corporate space (11 floors) and two floors of underground parking.
In addition to the expansion in a densely populated urban area, the existing building was completely brought up to standard, inside and out, without interrupting operations. The interventions focused on spacious, flexible and bright layouts, while respecting the tenant's needs and the building's heritage character.
